Forgot to say that I've decided to stitch the logo and text too. If it gets chosen to send to Orange, I'll be sending the actual thing I make, not a photograph so I think it's fitting that it all be stitched. It'll finish it off nicely. Can't get it stitched for a few weeks though. I'm aware that I'm not supposed to tough the logo but I know it'll look better if I do so they can like it or lump it.
I've done 2 final versions, both very similar.

The pictures below are just some samples of the stitching I've been playing about with, I then scanned some of it into illustrator and messed around some more. I stuck to squares because they look better than any other shape I tried. Circles are virtually impossible by the way!! Anyway, I think it kind of fits seeing as the logo is an orange square.

great....I've found a pretty good habidashery right by my house which is great for the project but I think the pleasure pain theory must be true!! Along with your fabric comes a side portion of being insulted "for not having evolved" (as the man said) and made to feel like you're an absoloute idiot for not knowing the name and density of a fabric, even if you have a sample. What a dick!! Definatly won't be going there agin! Penis!

I took the advice I was given and used some common sence and have so far come up with this. I think the best idea so far is to use different stitches and one coloured treads at a time to create an images. Then do the same with another colour. Eventually, combine all the images symbolising "Your Group."

I haven't had any recomendations of existing work to look at but sitting through other people talking about their work, I've taken a list of artists and companies to look at. Not much of it has anything to do with what I'm doing at the moment but it is pretty inspiring stuff and has definatly given me ideas for the future. So these group tutorials are pretty helpful.

1 more idea I like is making a dress, photograph it anding and lit up,with orange accessories, for evenings and weekends. Just thought I'd tell you.


I couldn't sleeplast night so I addressed 24 blankpostcards to myself and I'm planning on distributing them around and about, see how many I get back.

Messing around with joining stuff "TOGETHERNESS."

My v.quick attempt at patchwork. Very simple and quick, definatly going to use this sometime in the future.

My patchwork quilt...so you can be inspired when you're asleep!!!!

Just an idea I had that I like. "Evenings and Weekends" or as Suzie suggested "Your Group." Basically a patchwork quilt. I wasn't sure of the image if I did "Evenings and Weekends," just thought it could work because of the evenings part. It could work pretty perfectly as your group, you know how patchwork stuff is usually a group activity, everyone has a patch and they're all combined to make up one big creation. Seeing as this is a late idea I don't have enough time to ask people to design and make a patch for me but I've decided to do it anyway...I'm sure I'll be able to use it for something sometime.

This is a mock up of a kind of 1st draft poster. I'm changing it lots to get the concept. I talked to Luke and he seemed to really like it, I don't know if it was the end of the day and he was tired but he said to chill ou about the concept...got the impression I shouldn't bother but after I kept saying I didn't see the point of doing it without a concept he gave me some ideas about what I could do.
Think I'm gona concentrate on "YOUR GROUP." Basically each stitch is a different group. Make some kind of network like effect from that. It's a case of messing around whichh is the fun part!

So anyway....after speaking to Pete and Suzie, I agreed that my stuff needs to be modified to have a meaning. There's no point in it looking pretty if it doesn't convey anything. I saw an ORANGE ad about broadband on the internet. It had text movin g through what looked like a double helix (DNA coil thing.) My lines of stitch have been adapted into this kind of image. Got some inspiration from a telephone cord. Ilike the idea but it looks rubbish and the patterns I made have no real relevance to what I should be aiming for. I suppose it could be loosely tied to bigger networks. But no, Ineed to push this futher!!



Already I'm annoyed with this stupid blogg. I don't get why my photoshop and illustrator stuff always comes out the wrong colour. I know it's someting to do with inverting the colours but I don't know what that means. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! should have just stick to stitch!!!!!!!!!!!

The picture below is just a random page of random ideas....nothing in depth but things that popped into my mind, thing's I might persew if all else fails. There are stamps, orange fruit containers, ballons, trash cans, spriders webs, those puzzle cube things, mirror, coggs, telephone wire, DNA, photo sensitive paper, Interactive something, bricks. You'll hear the details if I decide to take any of these routes.



I decided not to jump in straight away with stich so I looked at paper folding, have no idea where this could take me but after seeing Felix's amazing oragami bull and that Laura was thinking of basing her whole project around these shirts I've decided to pull the plug on this idea. I'm sure it has lots of potential but if there are a few people thinking of doing it in our group, that might mean there are lots of other people doing it else where too. Think they lookpretty cool though!

Started off with a bit of sewing, think I may have become a bit predictable but all the same, most people seem to like it. No concept...yet. I think it's in a style that ORANGE would like. I havn't seen any advets for them in this medium but it's delicate, lots to look at and prehaps something a bit different.
